Sewing tables are a great way to repurpose and are so diverse they can be used as nightstands, side tables, entry tables, you name it! They are especially useful if you have a high bed and find your bed is substantially higher than your nightstand. Surprisingly, I had yet to experiment with chalk paint- for a couple reasons: 1. it is so expensive and comes in fairly limited colors 2. the “make yourself” kind has plaster of paris in it, which I am not crazy about exposing myself to on a regular basis. I found a great alternative to the chalk paint dilemma: Webster’s Chalk Paint medium. Basically, you add two tablespoons of the stuff with a sample can of whatever color you like and a tablespoon of water. This basically solved all of my qualms with chalk paint (not to mention a bag of the stuff is $11.00). Two coats, some distressing, a coat of wax and some new knobs and she is transformed. I am thoroughly impressed with the way this product performed, giving me all of the benefits of chalk paint without the hole in my wallet or the exposure to harmful ingredients.
